Less weight is a key success factor for vehicles and mobile equipment. Lighter products mean increased payload, better fuel economy and the possibility to stay within legal limits for on-road transportation.
Thinner Plate
By using stronger and/or more wear resistant steel the thickness of the plate can be reduced substantially. A thinner plate corresponds to much reduced weight. As an example the weight in a tipper (both body and trailer) can be reduced with approximately 30%.
Optimized Construction
SSAB can advice you on how to reduce weight even further by optimizing the steel utilization. Advice can range from reduction of beams and welds to entire design concepts.
